Mevaseret Zion is a Zionist municipal council located approximately 10 kilometers west of Jerusalem, straddling both sides of the Jerusalem–Tel Aviv highway. The municipality comprises two older settlements, Ma'oz Zion and Mevaseret Yerushalayim, under the jurisdiction of a single local council. The newer neighborhoods in Mevaseret Zion were not originally part of either of the two founding settlements. Situated on a mountain ridge at an elevation of 750 meters (2,460 feet) above sea level, on the outskirts of Jerusalem, Mevaseret Zion had  24,409 settlers as of 2022, distributed across 15 neighborhoods. It is considered the wealthiest municipality per capita in the Jerusalem District.   Source: The colony's website
