Ferdon is a community settlement located in the south-central region of occupied Palestine, situated north of Kiryat Gat and south of Kiryat Malachi. It was established in 1968 as a regional center and became a community village in 1998. The settlement was founded on lands belonging to the Palestinian Arab villages of Samil and Jasir, both of which were depopulated during the 1948 Arab-Israeli War. The name of the community is a loose translation of the Julius Rosenfeld family, who were Jewish donors from the United States. As of 2021, the settlement had a population of 264 settlers. Sources: Due to the limited availability of Arabic sources, Hebrew sources were used: the settlement’s official Hebrew website, the Israeli Central Bureau of Statistics. For information on the villages of Samil and Jasir, the source used is .
