The village of Khirbat Abu Muailiq was named after the Hasanat Abu Muailiq clan. It is considered one of the clans that remained steadfast on Palestinian land in the Be’er Sheva region.

The village had a school with 40 students and several teachers. However, it was subjected to forced displacement, and its residents were expelled to the Gaza Strip following a bloody battle in which six men were martyred. The village homes were destroyed, and its water well was filled in.

The Hasanat Abu Muailiq clan is one of the oldest clans in the Be’er Sheva region, though not among the largest. It is considered one of the 21 clans that make up the al-Tarabin tribe.
