Kommiyut is a Hasidic located in the south-central part of occupied Palestine, in the southern Shfela region near Kiryat Gat. The group that founded the was originally a youth group established by Agudat Yisrael in August 1949. It was primarily composed of demobilized soldiers from a religious unit that had fought in the area during the 1948 Arab-Israeli War. The name "Kommiyut" is derived from a biblical verse. After undergoing training in Nachlat Yehuda, the group established the in 1950 on land allocated to them by the Jewish National Fund. The was built on the land of the depopulated Palestinian village of Qarna (Kurnia). < The was developed as an agricultural village and includes two bakeries, one of which produces matzo, as well as a dairy factory, a carob factory, a marble factory, and a tefillin factory. The also operates a program for yeshiva students, who study for six days a week and return home only on Saturdays. There is also a Talmud Torah school for children. As of 2022, the settlement had a population of 606 settlers.
