Luzit Colony
Updated: Aug 4

Luzit is a settlement (moshav) located in central occupied Palestine, situated between Beit Shemesh and Kiryat Gat. It was established in 1955 on the lands of the depopulated Palestinian village of Dayr al-Dubban by Sephardic Jewish immigrants and refugees from North Africa, led by Shalom de Valenzuela Levi Kahana.
The settlement was initially named "Deir Dubban Bet", in reference to the original Palestinian village of Dayr al-Dubban, but was later renamed Luzit, after the almond trees that grow abundantly in the area.
As of 2022, the settlement had a population of approximately 871 settlers.
