Sde Nahum Colony
Updated: Aug 10

Sde Nahum is a kibbutz located in the Beisan (Beit She'an) Valley, in the northern part of occupied Palestine, approximately 4 kilometers northwest of Beisan.
The nearby Palestinian village of Saffuriyya was almost entirely emptied of its approximately 4,000 residents in July 1948. By early January 1949, around 500 of its residents had returned. However, neighboring settlements coveted the lands of Saffuriyya, prompting the Northern Command to issue an evacuation order, which was carried out on January 7, 1949. The lands of Saffuriyya were subsequently distributed among nearby Zionist colonies.
Sde Nahum itself is located south of the depopulated Palestinian village of Al-Marsas, in the District of Baysan.
In February 1949, 1,500 dunams of land from Saffuriyya were allocated to the Sde Nahum settlement.
As of 2022, the population of the kibbutz was 1,078 settlers.
