Establishment of the Palestine Arab Party1935
March 27, 1935: After extensive deliberations and consultations, Muhammad Amin al-Husseini, the Mufti of Jerusalem, decided to establish a political party called the Palestine Arab Party, which became known as the “Mufti’s Party.”
The party was founded in Jerusalem on March 27, with the participation of hundreds of supporters from across Palestine. Jamal al-Husseini was elected as its president. The party’s executive office consisted of Alfred Rock as Vice President; Emil al-Ghuri as Secretary-General; and Khalid al-Farakh, Kamil al-Dajani, and Wajih al-Bashtawi as members.
The party’s program called for Palestine’s independence, the abolition of the British Mandate, and Palestine’s integration with the Arab countries within an independent and fully sovereign political union.
The party also organized campaigns to oppose the sale of land to Jews and called for rebellion against and resistance to British rule.
