Bnei Brak Settlement
Updated: Sep 7

Bnei Brak is a settlement located in the occupied Palestinian territories on the Mediterranean coast. It was established in 1924 as a settlement adjacent to the Palestinian village of al-Khayriyya, whose residents were displaced during the 1948 war. The settlement covers an area of 7,088 dunams. According to the Israeli Central Bureau of Statistics, it is home to more than 154,000 people. Bnei Brak is one of the most densely populated settlements and among the lowest in economic level in "Israel."
The name Bnei Brak dates back to the Assyrian period in Palestine, referring to an ancient town that was known as "Bene-Berak." Haredi (ultra-Orthodox) Jews make up the majority of the city's population today.
