Kiryat Ono is a Zionist settlement established in 1939, covering an area of 4.1 square kilometers. Some of its neighborhoods were built on the ruins of the depopulated Palestinian Arab village of Kafr Ana. Its population in 2009 was about 31,000 people, rising in 2021 to about 41,900 people, most of them Jewish immigrants.

The village of Kafr Ana was located 11 kilometers east of Jaffa, on flat land rising about 35 meters above sea level. It was surrounded by the lands of the villages of al-Abbasiyya, al-Safiriyya, al-Saqiya, and Jindas. Its name is believed to derive from an ancient Canaanite village known as "Ono."

By 1945, the village's population was about 3,020 people, including 220 Jews. Its residents owned agricultural land comprising 2,214 dunams for growing citrus and bananas, 11,022 dunams for grain crops, and 597 dunams of cultivated or irrigated orchards.
